Rationale:
PETA and PESD met to negotiate the following articles of the PETA CBA which affect IHCS Unit Members, effective July 1, 2025:

Article 7: Hours Provisions applicable to charter school unit members - Teachers at Innovative Horizons Charter School will work 181 days, with an 8-hour workday, including a 30-minute prep time, and will have one day for professional development. Middle school teachers will have a preparation period of at least 40 minutes, and non-permanent teachers will not be required to teach more than three preparations, with compensation provided for more than four preparations. Fridays are reduced hours and weekly collaborative planning time for staff.

Article 8: Class Size - Middle school teachers will receive compensation for class size overages exceeding 34 students, with per-student stipends starting after the 21st day, and will also be compensated if students are split among teachers due to substitute shortages or if teachers give up their prep periods to cover classes.

Article 14: Leave Provisions - Full time unit members shall be entitled to ten (10) days leave, at eight (8) hours per day, with full pay for each school year for purposes of personal illness or injury.

Article 15: Assignment, Dismissal, Transfer, and Filling Vacancies - Involuntary transfers exclude IHCS. A charter school teacher will be given priority over a non-charter school teacher when requesting a voluntary transfer to a non-charter school assignment.

Article 18: Compensation and Benefits - Unit members at IHCS will be paid according to a separate salary schedule that includes compensation for an additional 24 hours of work, with adjustments made during salary negotiations, and will revert to the district's standard salary schedule if the MOU expires or is not in effect.

Appendix B Stipends - Athletic stipends will increase from $1,000 to $1,250 per season.
