Rationale:
|
The purpose of the After School Education and Safety (ASES) program plan is to create an operational design of an after school program within the framework of the requirements defined in California Education Code (EC) sections 8482 et seq.
The ASES grantees are responsible for creating, reviewing, and updating the program plan every three years (EC Section 8482.3[g][1]). The grantee must work collaboratively with after school partners and staff to develop and review the program plan.
PESD is committed to fostering a supportive community that ensures academic and personal success for all students. In alignment with this mission PESD partners with Elevo Learning to implement high-quality, student-centered, after-school programs that comply with all state and federal grant funding requirements.

Background
:
|
Since December 2006, Perris Elementary School District (PESD) has successfully secured funding through the After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program to provide high-quality after-school programs across 9 school sites. These programs are designed to support academic achievement, personal growth, and social-emotional well-being for participating students.
The ASES programs incorporate a comprehensive approach to student development, offering an educational and literacy component that provides targeted tutoring and homework assistance in core content areas such as mathematics, language arts, and science. Additionally, the programs include an educational enrichment element that fosters creativity, physical fitness, and collaborative learning. Enrichment opportunities are diverse and may include fine arts, intramural sports, physical activities, STEAM/STEM-focused projects, and a strong emphasis on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) to promote self-awareness, resilience, and positive peer interactions.
PESD remains committed to ensuring its after-school programs are accessible, equitable, and aligned with state and local goals to provide safe, engaging, and constructive environments that extend learning beyond the school day.
